Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in the world, and Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is the largest girl-serving organization in the state. Girl Scouts’ program focus areas are STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Entrepreneurship, Like Skills, and Outdoor Experiences. All Girl Scout experiences incorporate three key indicators of leadership as defined by the Girl Scout Leadership Experience:

SHARE Omaha's Do Good Days 2025, during National Volunteer Week, highlighted the critical need for volunteers in the metro area, and you responded! Passionate individuals, families and corporate groups raised their hands to support local nonprofits and got to work. Thank you to all who served and gave!

💜 Martie said, “Volunteering at the Siena Francis house on one of the coldest days of the year was an eye-opening reminder on the need that exists in our community. It was a rewarding time to give to those in need and sharing this time with my son was impactful on both of us.”

Scatter Joy Acres is a 15-acre urban agricultural rescue, therapy, and educational ranch. Their certified Animal Assisted Therapy program provides help for those in greatest need: at-risk children, the developmentally disabled, seniors, homeless, the mentally ill, veterans, and those re-entering society. They rescue and foster abused, neglected and abandoned animals. Those that don’t find loving forever homes are trained to become therapists in the Animal Assisted Therapy program.

🎉 Just a few recent circle moments, worthy of celebration:

💜 SHARE Omaha has experienced a 110% increase in volunteer interest year over year, so far in 2025

💜 There's been an 80% increase in the number of donors using SHARE Omaha year over year, so far in 2025

💜 Tim says, "SHARE Omaha was very helpful in giving a great overview of volunteer options and getting me connected with the right people!” 

The Teen Center promotes opportunity for students through intentional afterschool programming that provides education, exposure, and mentorship. Founded in 2007 and now located inside Burke High School, The Teen Center collaborates closely to provide critical supports during the school day and after school. 

Currently, The Teen Center has a goal of $2,700 to fund 27 graduation baskets of essentials for seniors.

DIBS for Kids is a children's literacy program. Their classroom libraries and innovative lending technology Deliver Infinite Book Shelves to students so they can read a new book every night. They provide books, a QR-code driven book distribution system, training, and support to over 200 elementary school classrooms and over 6,000 children. Their mission is to help schools provide every child with access to powerful in-home reading experiences, every school night. Our students make statistically significant reading gains, up to a full grade level of reading gains, because of DIBS.
